MESA, Ariz. – Sophomore forward AJ Jones played hero on Tuesday night in YC's 1-0 overtime victory on the road against the Mesa Community College Thunderbirds. 

Jones' overtime goal gave the Roughriders their third win in a row and moved their overall record to 4-4 and conference record to 3-0. 

After 90 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Roughriders and Thunderbirds headed into overtime where the periods are 10 minutes and the first goal scored wins the match. 

About six minutes into the extra period, the aforementioned Jones corralled a long cross pass, dribbled through two defenders and buried a shot past the Thunderbird goalkeeper for the YC win.

For Jones, it's her second score of the year with the other goal coming against Cochise. 

In net, freshman goalkeeper Morgan Trail took home the victory and shutout. She now owns four victories and two shutouts on the season.
