CHANDLER, Ariz. -- History continues to be made in the inaugural season of the Yavapai College women's soccer team. This time, it comes in the form of a 2-0 Saturday night victory over the Coyotes of Chandler-Gilbert on the road in Yavapai's first ever ACCAC contest.

"It was a great team effort today," Head Coach Rozie DeWeese said after the game. "We were disciplined and played within our game plan for the full duration of the game. I'm very proud of this team and the work they've put in to get to this point."

Yavapai's victory over Chandler-Gilbert avenges its previous loss this season to the Coyotes, a 1-0 affair that took place on August 28 at Ken Lindley Field In Prescott. On the season, the Roughriders are now 4-5 overall and 1-0 in ACCAC play.

The goal scoring summary was pretty simple for Yavapai College Saturday night: freshman forward Emma Alvarez continued her fantastic season with a goal in each half with fellow freshman forward AJ Jones assisting on Alvarez's first goal.

It's the second time this season that Alvarez has had a multi-goal game and also extends her team-lead in the category to seven goals on the season. Jones continues to own the team-lead in assists with six.

The Roughriders also dominated the statsheet, tallying 17 shots on goal to the Coyotes five. In the net, freshman goalkeeper Lauryn Mayhan took home the shutout with four saves.
