CHANDLER, Ariz. -- There was no shortage of offense Saturday night for the Yavapai College men's soccer squad as it defeated the Coyotes of Chandler-Gilbert 9-0 on the road for its first ACCAC victory of the season. Overall, the Roughriders are 5-3-1 and 1-0-1 in the ACCAC.

Yavapai came out of the gates quickly, scoring just 55 seconds into the match with a goal from freshman midfielder Michal Mojzis. After the quick strike, the Roughriders were held scoreless for the rest of the first half and settled for a 1-0 lead at the break.

The Roughriders, possibly unimpressed with the goal total in the first half, made up for it and then some in the second half as they found the back of the net eight times in the final period of play.

Four minutes into the second half, Mojzis scored again for his fourth goal of the season and first multi-goal game as a Roughrider. Five minutes after Mojzis's second score, freshman forward Jesse Maldonado scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season for a 3-0 lead.

After a 15 minute hiatus from scoring, the Roughriders tallied six goals in the final 20 minutes of the game, starting with sophomore defender Jakob Larson's fourth of the season.

Leading 4-0, freshman forward Jose Vega and fellow freshman forward Josue Martinez scored to bring the score to 6-0.

After the pair of goals, sophomore forward Dauda Woodruff found the back of the net twice with under ten minutes to play to bring his season goal total to eight (temporarily tying him with Maldonado for the team lead).

That tie didn't last long as Maldonado scored his second of the game and ninth of the season just two minutes after Woodruff's second goal, giving him nine on the season and giving the Roughriders three players with a multi-goal effort.

Overall, Yavapai tallied 19 shots on goal to just one from Chandler-Gilbert. Sophomore goalkeeper Hudson Bodily earned one of the easier shutouts that one will see, logging zero saves in the effort.
