The #8 Yavapai College Men's Soccer team blanked the visiting Artichokes from Scottsdale Community College in their final regular season game 4-0 Saturday evening at Ken Lindley Field.
In a game with Region I playoff hosting implications, the Roughriders were able to capitalize early on a
Loic Baures low driven far post shot off a perfectly timed switch by fellow Sophomore
Jonathan Mayen at the 9
th minute mark. Despite a variety of chances in the first half by Yavapai College, the game would remain 1-0 at the end of the first half.
Yavapai would strike again in the 64
th minute of the game, as goalkeeper
Josue Ruiz would connect with
Tucker Fenton inside of the Artichokes 18 yard box and would calmly place a one timed volley past Riley Wickey. Prescott Valley's
Jared Gittens connected on a
Dauda Woodruff cross for his first goal of his career to make the score 3-0.
Jakob Larson extended the Roughrider lead to 4-0 on a
Loic Baures assist in the 81st minute of the game.
Up next will be the Region 1 Division 1 final against Arizona Western on May 14th. Time and location will be determined this week.
