The Roughrider softball team ran their winning streak to 14 Tuesday afternoon with victories over Arizona Western College at Bill Vallely Field, 11-2 and 18-10. The doubleheader is the final regular season home games of the 2021 season. Yavapai is now 30-5 on the season and 25-2 in ACCAC play.

YC used an 8-run second inning capped by an
Alyssa Carpio grand slam to put the opening game out of reach.

Emily Dix and
Cassie Elliott combined for the five-hit victory. Dix allowed 1 earned run and struck out 2 and Elliott threw two innings allowing 1 hit.

Mia Weckel,
Jocelyn Ulrich and
Miki Berg were each 2 for 3. Weckel had a double and led the game off with a home run.

In the second game, Yavapai used the long ball in the victory. YC hit 6 home runs.
Alyssa Carpio, Isabella Porreco,
Cheyenne Sandoval and
Mia Weckel hit home runs and
Mikaela Payne knocked two round-trippers. Weckel, Sandoval, Payne and
Kamryn Kamakaiwi each had three hits.
Kayla Rodgers was 2 for 2.

The Roughriders conclude the regular season on Saturday, May 8
th at Eastern Arizona College. YC swept a doubleheader from the Gila Monsters last month, 8-0 and 10-2. The doubleheader will begin at 11:00 AM.

Yavapai will be the host for the NJCAA Region I Division I Playoffs beginning on Thursday, May 13
th. The tournament will run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. YC plays on Thursday at 1:00 PM against an opponent yet to be determined.
