The #7 seeded Yavapai College softball team upset the #1 seeded Salt Lake Community College squad eliminating the Bruins from the National Tournament Wednesday night in Yuma. YC beat Salt Lake, 4-1.

Emily Dix pitched another gem getting her second victory of the day. The freshman right hander threw all seven innings allowing 6 hits and striking out 5. Dix gave up the lone Salt Lake run in the second inning and was only threatened in the bottom of the seventh inning when two batters reached base. Dix squelched the threat striking out the final batter for the win. Yavapai only managed 5 hits but two were home runs. Jocelyn Ulrich knocked a home run in the first inning to take the lead and Miki Berg homered in the second inning. YC scored a single run in each of the first four innings.

The Roughriders now face #5 Wallace State Community College, AL at 4:00 PM on Thursday. The winner advances to the next round at 8:00 PM and the loser will be eliminated.
