The Roughrider softball team fell short in the opening game of the 2021 NJCAA Division I National Tournament. YC fell to Three Rivers Community College, MO, 7-4.
 
The game was a pitcher's duel through five innings. Three Rivers scored a lone run in the first inning and Yavapai tied the game in the fourth inning. The Raiders took a commanding lead in the sixth inning scoring six runs. The Roughriders got a run back in the bottom of the sixth and threatened in the bottom of the seventh scoring two runs.
 
The Roughriders only managed 6 hits on the night with Jocelyn Ulrich going 2 for 3. Miki Berg was 1 for 4 with a triple and 2 runs batted in.
 
The Roughrider fall to the elimination bracket with the loss. YC will face #15 Trinity Valley Community College, TX on Wednesday at 12:00 PM. Trinity Valley lost to #2 Butler Community College, Tuesday night, 10-2. The winner of tomorrow's game will play later that day at 6:00 PM against the loser of the #1 Salt Lake Community College, UT/#8 San Jacinto-South College, TX game. The loser of the YC/TVCC game will be eliminated from the tournament.
