The Roughrider baseball team is still alive and kicking after a split today in the NJCAA Division I West District Playoffs. YC dropped the first game against fellow ACCAC foe, Central Arizona College, 22-3. The Roughriders turned around and beat College of Southern Idaho in walk-off fashion, 14-13 to advance to the Championship Game(s) on Saturday.
 
In the opener, Central Arizona dominated from the get go taking a 12-3 after five complete innings. The Vaqueros added 10 more runs in the seventh inning to secure the run-rule shortened victory. Yavapai only managed 7 hits against Vaquero pitching with 
TJ Wheeler collecting 2 hits.
 
Due to the loss, the Roughriders played College of Southern Nevada immediately following the loss. The Coyotes beat Western Nebraska Community College in the opening game of the day. YC beat Southern Nevada on Thursday, 16-13.
 
Friday's rematch produced the same amount of offense on Thursday. The Roughriders had 17 hits including 8 extra base hits. Southern Nevada opened up the game scoring 3 runs in the opening frame. Yavapai tied the game with a run in the first inning and 2 runs in the second inning. The Coyotes posted three more runs in the third inning and a single run in the fourth Yavapai took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with 5 runs. Both teams scored four runs in the fifth inning and Southern Nevada tied the game with a single run in the 7
th. The Coyotes took the lead in the top of the 9
th inning and the Roughriders scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning on a walk-off double from 
Amari Bartee. 
Lance Kelly was 4 for 6 falling a single shy of the cycle. Kelly knocked two doubles, a triple and a home run. 
Alton Gyselman was 3 for 5 with a home run and 4 runs batted in. 
Noah Turley, 
CJ Valdez, 
Amari Bartee and Travis Warriner each had two hits. Turley knocked a homer. 
Tyler Davis got the victory from the hill and 
Nathan Ward got the save.
 
The Roughrider face Central Arizona on Saturday in the West District Championship. If Yavapai wins the first game that will force a second game for the title. The winner of tomorrow's game will advance to the NJCAA World Series.  Tomorrow's game will start at 11:00 AM.
