The Roughrider baseball won their first game of the NJCAA Division I West District Playoffs Thursday afternoon in high wind conditions. YC beat College of Southern Nevada 16-13 in a game that featured 29 hits including 6 home runs. The Roughriders are now 6-1 in the post season.

Yavapai had to come from behind for the high scoring victory. The Riders fell behind 7-0 after two and a half innings of play. However, YC countered with 10 runs the next two innings to take the lead.

Yavapai added two more runs in the fifth inning to take a 12-8 lead. Southern Nevada took the lead in the top of the sixth inning scoring 5 runs. YC tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with a run-scoring single from
Alton Gyselman. Three batters later,
Noah Turley crushed a three-run home run over the left field fence to take the lead for good.

Matt Bachelier threw 3.2 inning to register the victory.
Nathan Ward struck out the side in the ninth to secure the win.

The Roughrider now face fellow ACCAC nemesis Central Arizona College on Friday at 12:00 PM. The Vaqueros beat Western Nebraska Community College earlier in the day, 13-4. The winner advances to the championship game on Saturday. The loser will face the winner of the Southern Nevada/Western Nebraska game being played at 9:00 AM.
