The Roughrider softball team improved their overall record to 27-5 and 22-2 in conference play with the 12 consecutive victory Saturday afternoon in Casa Grande over the Vaqueros from Central Arizona College, 9-0 and 10-2.

The Roughriders broke a 0-0 tie in the top of the sixth inning scoring 9 runs. Yavapai had 5 of their 6 hits in the pivotal sixth inning including four for extra bases.
Kayla Rodgers and
Cheyenne Sandoval each had two hits. Rodgers had a double and a home run and five runs batted in. Sandoval had a home run and three RBI's.
Emily Dix went the distance in the circle for the victory. The freshman hurler scattered two hits and struck out four.
YC had to come from behind for the victory in the nightcap but once again used a big inning late in the game to secure the win. Central Arizona drew first blood scoring a single run in the first inning. The Roughriders responded with two runs in the top of the 2
nd inning and added a solo run in the third inning to take the lead at 3-2. YC posted a 7 spot in the 5
th inning to put the game out of reach.
Mikaela Payne and
Megan Parsley each had two hits. Parsley had four RBI's.
Alyssa Carpio homered for the Green and Gold.
Kamryn Kamakaiwi got the victory in the circle and
Cassie Elliott threw the final inning.
YC entertains Arizona Western College on Tuesday, May 4
th. The twinbill begins at 11:00 AM. YC swept a doubleheader from the Matadors in Yuma, 1-0 and 6-1.
