The #6 (NJCAA D1) Yavapai College Men's Soccer team defeated Phoenix College 2-1 in ACCAC action on Saturday night at Hoy Field.
Yavapai opened the scoring early in the 1st half as
Enrique Zamora found
Tucker Fenton slashing to the near post to slip a perfect finish past the Bears goalkeeper. Phoenix College evened the score line at 1-1 as a long throw was misplayed in the 6 yard box and ricochet of several Yavapai defenders to find the back of the net.
The second half saw both teams pushing the tempo with several opportunities in the second half thwarted by both defenses.
Dauda Woodruff was able to penetrate the Bears back line and was fouled inside of the box to draw the eventual game winner.
Tucker Fenton picked up the brace as he buried a perfectly placed PK for the game winner.
The Roughriders are now 7-1-1 for the season and 6-1-1 in ACCAC play.
