The Roughrider baseball team came from behind to win their 10th NJCAA Region I Championship! YC led 1-0 after the first inning. The Vaqueros tied the score in the second inning Yavapai took the lead in the 4th inning with 2 runs. CAC tied the game in the 6th inning. The Riders regained the lead in the 7th inning only to lose the lead in the bottom of the of the seventh. The Roughriders blew the game open in the top of the 8th inning with six runs.
 
CJ Valdez led the way going 3 for 5 with two runs batted in with a double and a home run. Amari Bartee was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Damon Hale was 2 for 5 with a home run and Danny Martin was 2 for 4. Ethan Bell got the victory in relief and Nathan Ward threw the final inning for the save.
 
For his efforts, CJ Valdez was named the Most Valuable Player of the Region Championship Series.
 
The Roughriders now host the NJCAA West District Finals. The mini-tournament will take lace on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and Sunday against opponents yet to be determined.
