The Roughrider softball team opened up the NJCAA Region I Division Tournament with a bang Thursday afternoon at Bill Vallely Field over Eastern Arizona College, 17-2 in the run rule shortened game. YC knocked 4 home runs in the victory.

Yavapai scored 10 runs on nine hits in the opening frame including 3 home runs. The Riders added three more runs in the second inning, a single run in the 3
rd inning and 3 runs in the fourth.

Offensively, the ACCAC Division I Player of the year,
Jocelyn Ulrich was 4 for 4 with four runs batted in.
Mia Weckel was 3 for 4 with four runs scored.
Mikaela Payne,
Megan Parsley and
Bella Porreco each had two hits. Parsley, Payne, Porreco and
Kayla Rodgers each homered.

Emily Dix got the victory in the circle scattering two hits and striking out 5.
Kamryn Kamakaiwi threw the final inning.

YC continues tournament play on Friday as they face #2 seed Arizona Western College. The Matadors beat #3 seed Central Arizona College earlier in the day, 5-4. YC beat Arizona Western four times during the regular season. The winner of tomorrow's game advances to the championship game on Saturday. Friday's first pitch will be thrown at 1:00 PM.
