#10 (NJCAA D1) ranked Yavapai College Men's Soccer defeated Scottsdale Community College 4-2 on their first road test of the 2021 Spring season. The Roughriders once again scored first for the third straight game this season when defender
Loic Baures found a streaking
Tucker Fenton at the 23 minute mark to make the score 1-0. In the 28
th minute Scottsdale was able to capitalize on a redirected throw-in in front of YC goalkeeper
Josue Ruiz to make the game 1-1. YC responded immediately 3 minutes later on an
Iann Topete header assisted by Liam Heath Kennedy to pull YC on top 2-1. Freshman
Dauda Woodruff extended the Roughriders lead in the 40
th minute on a beautiful 25-yard volley to the far post from
Iann Topete in the 40
th minute.
The second half saw Scottsdale capitalize on a penalty kick awarded in the 56
th minute closing the lead to 3-2 and forcing YC to once again pick up the attacking tempo and creating a variety of chances in front of the Artichoke goal.
Tucker Fenton would find the brace to make the score 4-2 on a through ball by midfielder
Enrique Zamora in 77
th minute. Fenton now lead the team with four goals this season, while teammates Zamora and Topete have a team high three assists apiece.
The Roughriders return to action on April 15
th for an evening match up vs Gateway Community College at 6:00 PM at Ken Lindley Field.
