Despite a 30-6 shot and 14-1 corner kick advantage, the #6 ranked Yavapai College Soccer tied the visiting Chandler Gilbert Coyotes 1-1 at Ken Lindley Field. The first half saw a tight game as both teams were unable to produce many clean looks at goal to keep the half tied at 0-0.
For the first time this season, the Roughriders conceded an opening goal at the 65
th minute of the game as the Yotes Wyatt Deutsch was able to get on the end of a set piece cross to beat
Hudson Bodily to the far post. The Roughriders began to mount pressure on Chandler Gilbert deep into the second half taking 19 shots on frame and 10 corner kick. However, Chandler Gilbert's Justin Zimmerman would be equal to the task with save after save to thwart any Rider attempt on goal. In the 84
th minute, Yavapai was able to capitalize on a loose ball inside the 6 yard box, where
Iann Topete would poke a ball to
Jakob Larson for the game tying goal. Both teams saw limited opportunities to goal in the overtime periods, and the evening would end with a 1-1 draw.
The tie puts Yavapai College with an overall 6-1-1 record and 5-1-1 record in the ACCAC.
