The Roughrider softball team swept their fifth consecutive conference doubleheader Thursday afternoon in Tucson over Pima Community College, 15-0 and 12-7. Yavapai is now 27-5 overall and 22-2 in the ACCAC standings. Pima falls to 8-16 on the year.

In the opener, YC had 15 hits including 4 home runs. YC scored 3 runs in the second inning, 8 runs in the third inning, 2 in the fourth and 2 in the fifth.

Esperanza Rodriguez each had 2 hits. Carpio, Parsley, Payne and
Cheyenne Sandoval knocked home runs.

Two Roughrider pitchers combine for the four-hit shutout.
Emily Dix got the victory throwing 3.1 innings striking out 3 and allowing two hits.
Cassie Elliott threw the final 1.2 innings.

In the second game, YC had to come from behind for the victory. Yavapai notched two runs in the first inning. Pima took the lead in the second inning scoring 4 runs. YC clawed back scoring a run in the third inning and two more in the fourth inning and one in the fifth and the sixth innings.

Pima tied the score in their half of the sixth inning but the Roughriders scored five runs in the top of the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Jocelyn Ulrich and
Alyssa Carpio each had three hits.
Mia Weckel,
Megan Parsley and
Esperanza Rodriguez had two hits apiece. Carpio knocked her second home run of the day.

The Roughriders travel to Central Arizona College on Saturday for a DI conference doubleheader. In March, YC swept a doubleheader from the Vaqueros 15-4 and 11-8.
