The Roughrider baseball team split an ACCAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Casa Grande against #3 ranked and league leading Central Arizona College. YC won the opener in extra innings, 9-7 and the Vaqueros blanked the Riders in the nightcap, 11-0. Yavapai is now 24-17 on the year and 19-13 in ACCAC action. Central Arizona is now 39-5 overall and 29-5 at the top of the conference.
 
In the opener, the game was scoreless through five innings. Central Arizona broke the tie in the sixth inning scoring two runs. Yavapai took the lead in the seventh inning scoring four runs. Central Arizona knotted the score in their half of the seventh sending the 7-inning game into extra innings. In the top of the eighth inning, Yavapai scored five runs. The Vaqueros attempted a comeback scoring three runs but 
Nathan Ward got the final out for the save. 
Noah Turley knocked his league leading 17
th home run. 
CJ Valdez had two runs batted in on a triple. 
Amari Bartee and 
Kade York each had a double. 
Taisei Yahiro got the victory in relief throwing one inning.
 
In the second game, Yavapai was held hitless and the Vaquero offense scored multiple runs in each of the run-rule shortened game.
 
The Green and Gold stay on the road for their next conference doubleheader as they travel to Phoenix to play fellow DI foe South Mountain Community College on Tuesday. Earlier in the season, the Cougars swept the Riders, 13-6 and 6-5. Tuesday's twinbill begins at 12:00 PM.
