The Roughrider baseball team scored 36 runs Tuesday afternoon in a doubleheader sweep over the visiting Geckos from Gateway Community College, 15-8 and 21-11. Yavapai is now 23-16 on the year and 18-12 in ACCAC action.
 
In the opener, YC came from behind for the lopsided victory. Gateway led after three and a half innings 7-2. The Roughriders took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring 7 runs. They added 2 runs in the fifth inning and 4 more in sixth.
 
Damone Hale and 
CJ Valdez each had three hits. Hale had 3 runs batted in on 2 doubles and a home run. 
Amari Bartee and Travis Warriner had two hits apiece. Danny Martin and 
Josh Romero each homered.
 
Matt Bachelier picked up the victory in relief throwing 2 innings scattering 3 hits while striking out 2. 
Tyler Davis got the save on two innings with two strikeouts.
 
The Riders knocked 17 hits in the second game 9 for extra bases including four home runs.
 
Once again, Yavapai came from behind for the victory. Gateway led 8-2 after four and a half innings but the Green and Gold scored 5 runs in their half of the fourth inning to take the lead for good.

Lance Kelly each had three hits. Kelly had 8 RBI's on a double and two home runs. Valdez had two doubles. 
Amari Bartee had two hits. 
Noah Turley homered and 
TJ Wheeler had a grand slam.
 
Joseph Silverio got the victory in relief throwing 2.1 innings with 4 strikeouts.
 
Yavapai continues conference play on Saturday, April 24
th at #3 ranked Central Arizona College. The Riders split a doubleheader with the Vaqueros earlier this month losing the opening game 9-6 and winning the nightcap 9-8. Saturday's twinbill begins at 12:00 PM
