The #9 (NJCAA Division I) Yavapai College Men's Soccer team defeated the Paradise Valley Pumas 4-1 in a morning match at Puma Field to raise its record to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in ACCAC play. The Roughriders opened the scoring in the 9
th minute on a Heath-Kennedy goal on a set piece assisted by
Loic Baures. Yavapai continued the pressure for the duration of the half and finally were able to break the game in the 38
th minute, when
Enrique Zamora was able to find
Dauda Woodruff on top of the box, cleanly separating from two defenders and tucking the ball into the lower right hand of Puma goalkeeper Villegas. The Roughriders would make the game 3-0 in the 75
th when
Iann Topete capitalized on a crafty one time layoff from
Tucker Fenton. The lead would extend to 4-0 as
Iann Topete played a through ball to a streaking Chris Cornn who calmly slotted the ball into the lower right corner of the goal in the 88
th minute of play. PVCC would score a goal in the 90
th minute of play on a penalty kick.
The Roughriders next match will be on April 22
nd at 6 PM as they face Region I foe Arizona Western at Ken Lindley Field.
