In a battle of two top 20 NJCAA Division I teams, the #14 Yavapai College Roughrider softball team swept a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in Yuma over the Matadors from #17 Arizona Western College, 1-0 and 6-1. YC is now 21-5 overall and 16-2 in ACCAC. AWC falls to 23-10 on the year and 11-5 in conference play.

The first game was all about pitching on both teams.
Emily Dix threw the complete game shutout only allowing 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5.

Cheyenne Sandoval drove in the only run in the game chasing home
Kayla Rodgers in the top of the third inning.

The Roughrider pitching remained strong in the nightcap with
Kamryn Kamakaiwi throwing the complete game scattering 6 hits and striking out 5 batters.

Miki Berg had two hits apiece. Sandoval had a double and two runs batted.
Mikaela Payne was 1 for 4 with 2 runs knocked in.

The Roughriders continue conference play on Saturday, April 17
th at Scottsdale Community College. The doubleheader begins at 12:00 PM.
