The Roughrider baseball team swept their third consecutive conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon over the Thunderbirds from Mesa Community College, 5-3 and 14-3. YC improves their overall record to 11-6 and their league mark to 6-2.
 
In the opener, Taisei Yahiro earned the victory on the mound throwing 5.2 innings, scattering 7 hits while striking out 4. Nathan Ward threw the final 1.1 innings to earn the save. Offensively, Yavapai only managed 3 hits but took advantage of 8 opponent errors. Noah Turley knocked his first home run of the day in the seventh inning.
 
The Roughrider bats woke up in the nightcap getting 14 hits, 8 for extra bases. Amari Bartee was 3 for 4 with two doubles and three runs scored. Damone Hale, Noah Turley, CJ Valdez and TJ Wheeler had two hits each. Turley knocked his second home run on the day and 5th of the year. CJ Valdez knocked two home runs and knocked in 5 run. Matt Bachelier got the victory on the mound throwing 5 innings.
 
Yavapai continues conference road play on Saturday, March 13th at fellow DI foe Cochise College. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM
