The Roughrider baseball team swept their second consecutive ACCAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Chandler. YC beat the Coyotes from Chandler-Gilbert Community College, 11-5 and 15-7. YC improves their overall record to 9-6 and their conference mark at 4-2.
 
In the first game, the Roughriders scored 10 unanswered runs in their first 6 at bats. Chandler-Gilbert scored 5 runs in their half of the 6th innings to cut the lead in half. YC added an insurance run in the seventh inning and shut the Coyotes down in their half of the inning to secure the victory. Ethan Bell threw five innings to record the victory on the hill scattering two hits and striking out four. Declan Dutton threw the final 2 innings of the game. Offensively, YC had 10 hits and four for extra bases with Cam Jowaiszas, Noah Turley and CJ Valdez knocking home runs. Four Roughriders had multiple hits. Damone Hale, Turley, Jowaiszas and Danny Martin had two hits each.
 
In the nightcap, Yavapai had three innings in which they scored 4 or more runs. The Riders scored 4 in the first inning, 4 in the second inning and 5 in the seventh inning. Amari Bartee led the Roughriders from the plate going 4 for 6 scoring 2 runs and knocking in 1 run. Noah Turley was 3 for 6 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's.
 
The Roughriders continue league action on Tuesday, March 9th at Mesa Community College beginning at 12:00 PM. Stream will be available at www.goroughriders.com.
