The Roughrider baseball team swept a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon over the visiting Pumas from Paradise Valley Community College, 5-4 and 14-9. YC is now 15-12 overall and 10-8 in conference play.

In the opener,
CJ Valdez singled in
Amari Bartee in the sixth inning to break a 4-4 tie. Starting pitcher
Taisei Yahiro went the distance for the complete game victory. The sophomore lefthander scattered 8 hits and struck out 7. Offensively, Valdez and Bartee were each 2 for 3. In the nightcap,
Noah Turley knocked a grand slam in the sixth inning to put the Roughriders up for the first time in the game, 9-8 YC added 5 more runs in the bottom of seventh inning to secure the sweep.

Turley was 4 for 5 with 5 runs batted in.
Damone Hale was 3 for 6 with 2 runs scored.
CJ Valdez was 2 for 3 with a home run and 3 RBI's.
TJ Wheeler was 2 for 4 with 3 runs knocked in and 2 runs scored and a home run. The Roughriders used three pitchers.
Matt Bachelier got the start throwing 4 innings striking out 6.
Nathan Ward threw 1.2 innings and
Tyler Davis threw the final 3.1 innings.
