Baseball Falls Short on the Road

The Roughrider baseball team dropped an ACCAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Tucson to Pima Community College, 5-4 and 12-10. Yavapai is now 12-11 on the year and have a 7-7 conference mark.
 
The opening game went into extra innings with Pima getting the winning hit in the bottom of the 8th inning. The Roughriders out hit the Aztecs but stranded 12 runners.
 
Kenneth Jimenez led the Riders going 2 for 3. Noah Turley was 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 runs batted in.
 
In the second game, the Roughriders fell behind 10-2  after five innings of play. YC cut into the deficit scoring three runs in the sixth inning, however, Pima added two more in their half of the inning. The Riders attempted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring five runs.
 
Offensively, CJ Valdez led the Riders going 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI's. Lance Kelly was 3 for 4. Damone Hale was 2 for 3 with a homer. TJ Wheeler was 1 for 3 with a home run.
 
Yavapai takes to the diamond on March 23rd at fellow ACCAC DI nemesis Eastern Arizona College. The twinbill begins at 12:00 PM.
