Yavapai baseball dropped a Wednesday afternoon twinbill at the hands of Arizona Western College, 7-1 and 5-4. The Roughriders fall to 12-9 on the year and 7-5 in conference play.
In the opener, hits were few for the Roughriders. YC only managed 6 hits led by 
TJ Wheeler who went  for 3. 
CJ Valdez was 1 for 3 with a solo home run.
In the nightcap, YC could not overcome an early deficit despite a late rally. Arizona Western score 3 unanswered runs through four innings of play. YC cut the lead to 1 run with solo runs in the fifth and sixth innings. The Matadors scored two runs in their half of the seventh inning. Yavapai pulled within 1 run scoring two in the eighth inning but were held scoreless in the top of the ninth.
Damone Hale led the Rider at the plate going 2 for 4. 
Noah Turley had three runs batted in.
Yavapai continues conference action on Saturday in Tucson against Pima Community College. The doubleheader begins at 12:00 PM and can be watched at www.goroughriders.com.
