On a cold and windy day in Douglas, the Roughrider baseball team split an ACCAC Division I doubleheader Saturday afternoon with the Apaches from Cochise College (12-8, 5-5). YC won the first game 7-6 and dropped the second game 17-3. Yavapai is now 12-7 overall and 7-3 in conference action.

In the opener, YC came from behind for the victory. The hardballers trailed 1-0 going into the second inning but posted 4 runs highlighted by
Kade York's three-run home run.

Yavapai added single runs in their half of the fourth and fifth innings but Cochise responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the lead to two. Yavapai scored a lone run in the sixth inning on a solo home run by
Noah Turley. Cochise threatened in the bottom of the seventh frame of the seven-inning game scoring two runs but
Taisei Yahiro squelched the rally to secure the victory.

Turley and York had multiple hits for the Riders.
Ethan Bell got the victory on the hill.

In the nightcap, the Apaches scored 16 runs in the third inning and Yavapai couldn't overcome the lopsided deficit. The Roughriders managed only six hits.
Noah Turley was 2 for 3 with a run batted in.

Yavapai College continues conference play on Wednesday, March 17th at fellow DI nemesis, Arizona Western College. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM.
