The Roughrider baseball team had a tough Saturday afternoon dropping both ends of a doubleheader against fellow ACCAC Division I foe, South Mountain Community College, 13-6 and 6-5. Yavapai falls to 5-6 on the season and 0-2 in conference action.
In the opener, South Mountain scored 9 runs in the final two innings to overcome a 5-4 deficit to secure the victory.
Yavapai only managed eight hits in the game led by 
Damone Hale with two hits. 
CJ Valdez was 1 for 4 with a home run. YC left 9 runners on base.
The nightcap was a shortened game due to darkness. South Mountain broke a 4-4 tie in the fifth inning and added another run in the top of the 6
th. YC answered with one run in their half of 6
th but fell short of the comeback.
The Roughriders only managed five hits and four were for extra bases. 
TJ Wheeler was 2 for 3 with a home run and two runs batted in. 
Damone Hale was 1 for 4 with a home run and two RBI's.
Yavapai continues conference play on Tuesday, March 2
nd at Scottsdale Community College. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM
