YUMA, Ariz. -- The Yavapai College men's soccer team fell 2-1 Saturday night in a rematch with the Arizona Western College Matadors. With the loss, the Roughriders move to 5-5-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in the ACCAC.

Goalkeeper Hudson Bodily kept the match scoreless with an athletic save just five minutes into the match. After a Matador shot, Bodily leapt to his left and knocked the ball away with his left hand.

With just under 20 minutes to play in the first half, the Roughriders threatened to score first and take the lead when sophomore defender Jakob Larson headed a ball off of a corner kick towards the back of the Arizona Western net. Unfortunately for Yavapai, the Matador goalkeeper made a nice save to keep the match scoreless.

Just a couple of minutes after the save, Arizona Western took a 1-0 lead, a lead that would last into halftime.

After the break, Arizona Western took a 2-0 lead with 20 minutes left in the match on a ball that got past a couple of defenders with a cross pass.

With 15 minutes left in the match, freshman midfielder Charlie Nunez lined up for a penalty kick and converted the opportunity to cut the lead in half. For Nunez, it was his second goal of the season.

After the score, the Matadors were able to hold the Roughriders off of the scoresheet to secure the 2-1 victory.
