YUMA, Ariz. -- After making the playoffs in its first season in history, the Yavapai College women's soccer team's season came to an end Friday night in the NJCAA Division I Region I Championship match against the Arizona Western College Matadors.

"It was a tough loss to end the season," Head Coach Rozie DeWeese said. "Overall, however, it's been a great first year of many well-earned accomplishments."

After scoreless play throughout the first 20 minutes of the match, Arizona Western broke through with just over 24 minutes to go and led 1-0. The Matadors added a pair of scores in the last 20 minutes of the first half and went into the break with a 3-0 lead.

In the second-half, the Matadors continued to be relentless as they scored six goals to bring the final score to 9-0.

For the Roughriders, they finish their inaugural season with a 7-11 record.
