10/14/2021 6:21:00 PM

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- In the middle of a busy, three-game week, the Yavapai College men's soccer squad put together a 6-0 dominant road win against the Gateway Geckos Thursday afternoon. With the victory, the Roughriders are now 6-6-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the ACCAC.

Last time the Roughriders matched up with the Geckos, Yavapai was victorious with a 9-0 score and three players with multi-goal games.

This time out, freshman forward Jesse Maldonado logged a multi-goal game (which he did last time against Gateway), scoring his 10th and 11th goals of the season, a category he continues to lead the team in.

Joining Maldonado in the goal column was freshman forward Josue Martinez (his fourth of the year), freshman forward Mael Lopes (his second of the year), freshman midfielder Michal Mojzis (his fifth of the year) and freshman midfielder Charlie Nunez (his third of the year).

The Geckos become the first squad that Yavapai has swept this season.
