The Roughrider softball team dropped an ACCAC doubleheader Saturday against Arizona Western College in Yuma, 3-1 and 4-2. Yavapai is now 9-6 on the season and 3-2 in conference play. Arizona Western improves to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in league action.

YC took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on
Shaylee Alani's third home run of the year. However, Arizona Western put two runs on the board in their half of the inning and added an insurance run in the fifth inning.

Despite a solid outing in the circle,
Jackie Traughber took the loss throwing all six innings surrendering five hits and striking out three batters.

In the nightcap, YC gave up one run in the opening frame and regained the lead with two runs in the fourth inning but Arizona Western scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to regain the lead for good.

Kamryn Kamakaiwi only surrendered one earned run in five innings pitched. Traughber threw the final inning.

Offensively, Yavapai only managed three hits all for extra bases, Alani (double), Garayzar (double) and
Alyssa Carpio (triple).

The Roughrider have their 2020 home opener on Tuesday, February 18
th playing host to South Mountain Community College. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM at Bill Vallely Field in Prescott
