The Yavapai College Volleyball squad traveled to Richfield, UT in order to participate in the Snow College Invitational Tournament to kickoff the 2019 season. On day 1 of the tournament the Roughriders won both of their matches. The morning match was played against Central Wyoming College. Yavapai dropped the first set 22-25 but bounced back to win 3 straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-13. The Roughriders returned to the court in the afternoon to play Trinidad State Junior College. In the 2nd match Yavapai started off very strong winning the first set 25-9 but unfortunately dropped the 2nd set 19-25. Both teams battled back forth early in sets 3 and 4 but Yavapai took control of both sets in the middle and finished strong (25-16, 25-18).
Individual leaders for the day included sophomore right side hitter
Lexi Cole who hit .218 (18 kills, 6 errors, 55 attempts). Leading the team with 3.00 kills per set each are outside hitters
Annie Harte (sophomore) and
Kennedy Wright (freshman). The two outside hitters totaled 21 and 24 kills respectively.Sophomore setter
Pilar Daugherty was tops in assists with 70. The 2 Roughriders leading the team defensively are sophomore middle blocker
Lacie Tenney with 13 total blocks and freshman libero
Heather Wanninger with 42 digs (5.25 digs per set).
On day 2 of the Snow College Invitational Yavapai will have to step up their game as they take on defending National Champion College of Southern Idaho and Utah State University Eastern who spent time nationally ranked in 2018. The match against USUE is scheduled to be streamed live on Snow TV.

Yavapai will return to Prescott to open play in the 13 team Dalton Overstreet Invitational on Thursday August 29th as they take on Monroe College (NY) at 4:00 pm.
