The Yavapai College soccer team kicked off their 31st season with a 12-0 victory over South Mountain Community College Thursday afternoon in their season and home opener in Prescott Valley.
Scoring came early and often for the Riders as 10 different Roughriders scored and 10 Roughriders scored in their first collegiate game.

The Roughriders return to the pitch on Saturday, August 24th in a non-conference affair against Otero Junior College. Yavapai and Otero played each other in November of 2013 in the NJCAA West District Championship Game. YC won that match, 3-0 to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament where they finished third in the country. The victory was the 535th win for head coach Mike Pantalione making him the all-time winningest coach in NJCAA history surpassing George Vizvary (534).
Saturday's match will be played at Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley with kick-off at 6:00 PM.
